DAY 68

Tropical Depression Emily finally dissipated for the last time. For much of the day she looked like an empty swirl with not much convection at all. Then at 5pm eastern she was downgraded to an open trough.

The tropical wave off the coast of Africa that we've been watching for a couple of days has gained some interest from the computer models and thus has been identified by the Hurricane Center as Invest 92. As you can see, it is still a ways out. As it moves through the eastern Atlantic it will encounter dry air that will keep its convection down. We have to check in on it periodically as it makes its way across the ocean. During this part of the season, every wave has a chance at development. August and September are the peak months.
