DAY 38

The fledgling Invest 96L brought heavy rain to most of Florida on Thursday, and even delivered a couple of lightning strikes to the area near Launch Complex 39A where Space Shuttle Atlantis was awaiting its final voyage into space. One of those strikes was captured on a mounted camera at the Kennedy Space Center and posted to YouTube.

Despite the weather, Lift Off of Atlantis went smoothly and successfully. As for 96L however, its fate is not so promising. It has faded into nearly nothing. A few models are still calling for some development in the area of the Carolina's, perhaps involving the remnant low of 96L. This development would be extra-tropical in nature and would move out over the Atlantic quickly.
